My company and Terence Sawtell, Founder of Goatsocial based at 803-1111 Beach Ave. Vancouver, B.C. entered into an agreement on September 29th 2015. Goatsocial was to render the following services: BRANDING, WEB DESIGN & CONSULTING though a process involving DISCOVERY, PLANNING, BRANDING, DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT & EVALUATION & DEBRIEF. The timeline was scheduled to be Sept 29 Retainer $8,246.70 to enter into phase 1 in which I flew from Central America to Vancouver BC to undergo the "Discovery Process" with him and his team. Upon my arrival, less than 4 hours of my time were occupied by this task as Terence was too busy and kept rescheduling, over and over again. Phase 1 was Due October 15th. As of October 15th I had received absolutely no deliverables what so ever and with $8,246.70 spent, I was becoming concerned about both the timeline and where my money was going. I asked Terence repeatedly for deadlines to which he said “Trust me, I am the project manager”. On November 11th I received a “mood board” with random photos and a couple colors. I also received a selection of random fonts on a piece of paper randomly organized. With Phase 2 coming due November 20th and only 2 deliverables received, Terence and I had a chat. Terence elaborated to me that with the deadline of Dec 15th approaching he simply could not complete the project for the launch of Dec 15th. He then quit the project and said: “I'm sending your money back. … I'm sorry I'm responsible for ruining your business.” Days later I received an outrageous bill from him claiming he spent 41.25 hrs developing 5 colours and putting some random fonts on a page therefore owing him $4125. He also elaborated that I had to wait until December 22nd at the latest for a check which has never came. After not completing any of the agreed upon deliverables and quitting a project that held my livelihood and that of my employees at stake this business owner stole $8,246.70. I believe I deserve this money back.
