This was an incredible experience that is not to be missed. Luis is very quick to respond and easy to deal with when booking. He also helped us with booking a casa in Vinales, and it was incredible! We were so charmed by him and his wife when we met them in person, and they were very kind in answering all our questions about life in Cuba. Truly amazing and lovely people! Our tour was led by Yosvany, who is funny, smart, and a total professional. He had answers for all our silly questions, and we asked a ton (he speaks excellent English). The tour passes through incredible landscape and he was able to identify all the flora, tell us about the history of the area, explain what life was like there, etc. He has a great sense of humour and a very calming demeanour, which was very reassuring for the less experienced riders. The horses are all very calm and tame, and are clearly very well fed and maintained. We saw a number of other tours on our ride, and many of the horses looked ragged and underweight. The Knowing Vinales tour may cost a little bit more than some others, but they are an ethical operation and it is money well spent. I urge everyone to please consider the welfare of the animals when booking your horse tour. I am typically very wary of animal tourism, but I felt 100% comfortable that these horses were very well cared for. The tour covers some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen, and gives a great overview of life in Vinales. The pace is perfect, and never rushed. We loved every minute, from having a coffee and cigar with the tobacco/coffee farmer, exploring the caves, and having a beer by the lakeside shack/bar in what felt like the middle of nowhere. The restaurant where the tour ends is fantastic, though they could have served us half the food and it still would have been too much. Vegetarians, don't worry -- there are plenty of meatless options served. This was truly a highlight of our amazing trip around Cuba, and is truly one of my favourite experiences while travelling, ever. Thank you so much to Luis and his amazing team!
