Timahoe Heritage Centre - Well worth a visit. Supremely serene, beautifully quiet place.

Timahoe village is a beautiful place to visit anytime. The village surrounds the idyllic Goose Green complete with bandstand.Close to the village is one of the best preserved Bell or Round Towers in all of Ireland which is adjacent to and old Cathedral ruins and a Visitor/Heritage Centre. Inside the old church is a museum/heritage centre. There is no cover charge and there is a usefull audio visual video display demonstrating the monastic heritage of Laois. Timahoe has been relatively unmollested by the Celtic Tiger era and thus retains an old world charm that exudes a timeless air to those who plod and ponder about the place.
