Delen's Place, Garsfontein Pta - Terrible Service and Terrible Experience

My younger brother stayed at this accommodation throughout 2017 while he was doing his first year at Varsity College in Pretoria . He continually expressed that he was having an unfavorable experience at the accommodation while his friends echoed the same sentiments, however, we as a family encouraged him to stay on as we had already paid for the whole year and it would’ve been a challenge to look for alternative accommodation in the middle of the year. The residents of the accommodation suffered multiple break ins where laptops, cellphones and clothes were stolen. My brother and his friends spent most of the year sleeping in fear that their property would be stolen. No communication was sent out to parents and guardians pertaining these incidents and no measures were taken to tighten security. My brother for instance had his laptop stolen while he was sleeping in his room. Fast forward to 2018 where we have decided to move my brother to alternative accommodation and we are currently in the process of claiming our deposit back from Delene Digital Solutions and Tours. Our phone calls and emails are not getting answered by the lady in charge of administering the deposits (her name is TT) and on the single ocsssion that she did answer her phone, she did so with very little professionalism and hurried me off of the phone by telling me that there are processes required before the deposit can be refunded. The deposit was to be refunded 15 working days after the contract lapsed,provided that we had filled out a deposit refund form. Our contract lapsed on the 13th of January and therefore our deposit was expected back on the 2nd of February however, following emails that I sent seeking clarity on this process, I did not receive any correspondence back and after sending a reminder on the 11th of January about the upcoming end date of the contract, I continued to receive silence. I then went to the Varsity College campus in Pretoria (this is where we signed our contract with Delen Digital Solutions and Tours in 2017 as they were on campus marketing themselves as a new residence for first year students) where they regrettably told me that they were no longer affiliated with the residence and could not assist me. I felt that this too was unfair because I wouldn’t have ever known about the accommodation if it’s representatives hadn’t been on campus in January 2017 during the time my brother was getting registered. All in all, the service and boarding experience offered to students throughout 2017 was poor and unprofessional while the service offered to parents and guardians has been equally dismal. The experience of dealing with this residence has been nothing like what was presented in the contract that was signed and I would really like for the owners to be help accountable for the terrible service that we have received.
