The name Onghili was derived from a type of tortoise tht the founders use to tame those years. Our heritage is rooted on the fact tht, the founders come from different tribes of the Aawambo. The village has a unique culture of unity, cos we are all from all tribes within the Aawambo tribe. One notable trait about us is tht whenever we host any event in the village, the culture of pouring each others "omalovu yoilya" does not exist here. You basically pour for yourself, drink as much as you want and hand over to the next person.
