Awesome full day family fishing trip with RoaTide on August 16. My family goes deep sea fishing 4-5 times year all over the US, and this was our best experience ever. Our trip started in the beautiful fishing village of Oakridge which is worth seeing in it's own right (try the fish pastelitos at the dock if you want a yummy bite). Captain Lewis and first mate Brenan were incredibly welcoming and supplied water, sodas and beer along with delicious island chicken salad for sandwiches and chips and oreos. The center console boat has an exteded canopy for great shade. Nothing was wanting for the perfect fishing cruise. Our full day trip was indeed deep sea fishing at its best. Captain Lewis took us 20 miles south towards mainland Honduras. Once in place and rigs out it took only 5 minutes for my son to land a 45 pound king mackerel that put up a mighty fight. My daughter and I then hooked up with a half dozen blackfin tuna, including one catch of three at a time. Next, we landed two more large king mackerels and two good sized barracuda. My daughter also pulled in our a beautiful bull mahi mahi. My wife hooked up on a reef shark and some tuna while my son and I fought a sizeable reef shark and blackfin combo. The trolling results were amazing and we wanted to catch a few snappers to round out our haul so Captain Lewis and Brenan rigged us up and we caught three red snapper and a tile fish to complete our bounty of about 100 pounds of edible fish. After a relaxing cruise home on a beautiful day with calm waters, Captain Lewis and Brenan fileted our fish and we had a local cook prepare them with coconut milk (even my daughter who doesn't like eating fish wanted more), beans and rice and plantains. Overall, RoaTide was an amazing success! Captain Lewis and Brenan are professional, very gracious and have everything you could ask for on a fishing trip. The boat was fast, clean and comfortable. Fishing was amazing and there wasn't another fishing boat to be seen (I can't recall ever having such a great fishing hole to ourselves). Oakridge is refreshingly off the beaten path of West End charters and traffic and absolutely worth the trip. I cannot more highly recommend Roatide!
