Please understand that this is only a review of DUBZ-by-DAN on MY CAMPERVAN. Mr Allen and I agreed to have my Campervan fully resprayed (Outside) in August to which we both agreed to have the Full respray (Outside) completed and it would take 2 months to complete (Agreed to complete by October) once he fixed the engine (Engine was meant to be fixed within 2 weeks - This never happened and took longer). From Mr Allen’s professional opinion he gave me an estimate which I understood would have a potential to increase due to the Campervan age and potential unseen issues (Not informing MR Allen - I had budget of extra £4K if it would go over Mr Allen’s estimate). I agreed to his estimate but before Mr Allen could commit he said I would need to transfer a deposit of 50% of the estimate. Which is where I went wrong. Speaking to many mechanics this is a CLAW that makes the consumer (Me) stick with the Mechanic/Panelbeater (Mr Allen) no matter what I am now bound to stay no matter what. Trusting Mr Allen I STUPIDLY I paid the 50% deposit for Mr Allen to start the full outside Campervan respray to be completed in October. October - Not completed November - Not Completed December - Not completed January - Not Completed After many emails / calls and visits I could not wait any longer. Mr Allen during this time kept requesting for more money over the months which came close to the original total of the full first estimate and my Campervan was not even a quarter completed. This is when I could not take it any longer and got legal advice. To be advised to pay the outstanding FULL ESTIMATE and then take the Campervan somewhere else and start the court process. 28th January - My Campervan was removed from Mr Allen’s premises and taken to another garage. The new garage reviewed the Campervan and were shocked at the state of work that was already been completed as it was not to a professional standard. This drove me to push more to take Mr Allen to court. Mr Allen tried to have a settle out of court but for me after all the Lies, Money, Stress, and time consumed I explained that I would want a full refund. Mr Allen ignored my settlement request, so here I am giving a VERY brief review on MY PERSONAL experience with Mr Allen. On the 4th January 2022 we went to court and I won the case. I was taken back with the lies and the stories Mr Allen was trying to use against me which was so apparent to the judge. My experience was horrible, and I hope this does not happen to anyone else. As the judge says MR Allen might be in magazines and great backup, Mr Allen did, completed and doing a great job with Mr Varela Campervan was not handled to a professional standard. To conclude - Would I recommend Mr Allen? - 100% NO.
